The Montessori Middle School
The first Montessori middle school on the Petite Côte - opening September 2026
A middle school for adolescents
In adolescence, young people seek to better know themselves, gain autonomy, and find their place in the world. Maria Montessori devoted a significant part of her life to designing an education suited to this period, which she described in "From Childhood to Adolescence".
The Colibris Montessori Middle School, the first Montessori middle school on the Petite Côte, accompanies each adolescent through this essential stage. Concrete work, life in community, real projects, cultural and scientific openness: these elements help the young person gain confidence, exercise critical thinking and build their independence.
« Reveal the talents of each young person and shape thriving, autonomous adolescents committed to building tomorrow's world. »
The middle school's pillars
Concrete work
Learning with hands and head together: manual projects, scientific experiments, gardening, cooking, art workshops. Concrete work anchors abstract thinking and gives meaning to every concept.
Life in community
Small groups, peer learning, shared daily responsibilities. Adolescents learn to cooperate, manage a collective project, take care of themselves and others. A true educational community.
Cultural and scientific openness
Languages, humanities, mathematics, arts: a demanding curriculum that prepares for exams and higher studies. Field trips, guest contributors, exchanges — the world enters the school and the school opens to the world.
The adolescent's rhythm
Respect for the rhythm specific to this age group: alternating periods of sustained effort and long stretches of time, calm spaces, time for personal reflection, caring guidance. The adolescent is neither a child to be occupied nor a small adult.
The project underway
The Colibris Montessori Middle School opens in September 2026 - the very first on the Petite Côte. Pre-enrolment is now open. Interested families can get in touch to receive the enrolment pack and arrange a meeting.
