Our Pedagogy
The Montessori method at the service of the child
Montessori pedagogy
Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian physician and educator, the first woman to earn a medical doctorate in Italy. Through decades of observing children, she developed a revolutionary educational method based on respecting the child's natural development, aiming to cultivate autonomy, self-esteem and reasoning abilities.

Core principles
Mixed ages
In a Montessori class, children of different ages learn together. This mix fosters mutual aid and respect. Older children share their knowledge with younger ones, consolidating their own learning. Younger children are stimulated and motivated by the example of their elders.
A prepared environment
The environment is carefully designed to allow each child to develop their full potential. Adapted to their size and strength, calm and stimulating, it invites spontaneity, motivation and autonomy.
Autonomous activity
The child freely chooses their activity from those that have been presented to them, and progresses at their own pace. There is only one copy of each material, which develops patience and respect. The child works for the satisfaction of understanding, not for competition.
Scientific materials
Montessori materials are self-correcting: the child can identify and correct their own mistakes without adult intervention. This develops concentration, perseverance and critical thinking. No one judges the result - only the child knows if they succeeded.
The educator
The Montessori educator is a trained, attentive guide who observes children and intervenes discreetly. They prepare the environment, present activities at the right time and allow the child to explore freely. They respect the child's sensitive periods for learning.
