Founders

Else Blaise

Founder · Director

Else Blaise

Else, founder of Les Colibris, is a specialized educator by training. French-Senegalese, she has always been guided by a passion for education and a deep trust in the potential of every child.

Her path took her from child protection in France to educational projects in Africa - Senegal and Madagascar - where she explored the impact of art, nature and community ties on learning.

It was becoming a mother that led her to turn to Montessori pedagogy, finding in this approach what she had always carried: a respectful gaze on the child, trust in their natural impulses, and the importance of a living, prepared environment.

After a first Montessori venture in Dakar, in 2023 she founded Les Colibris school in Nguérigne - a place rooted in nature and in African values, designed to let each child grow free, confident, and connected to their culture as much as to the world.

Jérôme Blaise

Co-founder

Jérôme Blaise

Jérôme Blaise is passionate about education and connection with youth. He began as a socio-cultural facilitator in France, then as a mediator in high schools, always committed to those seeking direction.

Through his nonprofit projects, he has led artistic and athletic initiatives internationally. A great traveler, his experiences around the world shape his vision of education.

He has worked in Madagascar as a project manager, then in Dakar as a guidance counselor and teacher in the French program of Cours Sainte Marie de Hann. He has also led sustainable development missions.

Since 2018, with the birth of his daughter, he has fully committed to Les Colibris alongside his wife - for a more human education, rooted and open.

Montessori Educators

Jimmy Irungu Maina

Montessori Educator 6-12 years

Jimmy Irungu Maina

Jimmy, originally from Kenya, teaches English and is deeply passionate and engaged in his work with children. For him, this is not simply a job - it is a true calling.

Contributing to their development, watching over their well-being and helping shape the next generation are missions especially close to his heart. He is proud to belong to a team that makes a significant impact - one child at a time.

Anne Valérie Sarr

Montessori Educator 3-6 years

Anne Valérie Sarr

Anne Valérie has been committed to Montessori pedagogy for nearly six years. It all started at Les Colibris Mariste, during an internship in a 0-3 environment. She was discovering this world for the first time - a true revelation.

Learning in the field, combining theory and practice, observing children evolve in a setting designed for them: very quickly, she no longer wanted to do anything else. She continued her path as a Montessori assistant, then as a 0-3 educator, and now holds the position of 3-6 educator at Les Colibris.

Moving from the children's community to the Children's House means entering a new dynamic, a different rhythm - with always the same joy of accompanying the child's inner momentum at each stage of their development.

Michelle Gigère

Montessori Educator 0-3 years

Michelle Gigère

Michelle, a certified early childhood educator, has been working with young children for over 20 years. Her natural empathy for the very young has always led her to observe them closely, to listen to what they express without words, and to train in different alternative approaches.

It is in Montessori pedagogy that she found a deep resonance. This approach helps her instinctively understand each child's needs at their developmental stage.

Being a steady, joyful, optimistic presence, accompanying children in awakening their many abilities, while walking alongside their families - this, for her, is one of the most beautiful missions of life.

Montessori Assistants

Nando Dasylva

Certified Montessori Assistant 3-6 years

Nando Dasylva

Nando is a certified Montessori 3-6 assistant. He has been working with children for more than seven years. For five years, he supported toddlers at Les Playlabs, using the Reggio Emilia approach - a rich experience marked by creativity, listening and observation.

Two years ago, he joined Les Colibris. There he discovered Montessori pedagogy. This encounter transformed his way of teaching, and his way of looking at the child.

Since then, he has never stopped learning, training, and wondering. What drives him every day: accompanying children in their growth, watching them flourish and gain confidence, at their own pace.

Odile Preira

Montessori Assistant 0-3 years

Odile Preira

Odile has been working in early childhood for many years. She began her path at Colibris Nguérigne, with the very youngest, where she trains and enriches her practice each day to support the child differently - with kindness and respect for their rhythm.

She also brings a precious cultural dimension, rooting the children's daily life in their environment and traditions.

Bernadette Sagna

Certified Montessori Assistant 0-3 years

Bernadette Sagna

Passionate about early childhood, Bernadette has always loved supporting toddlers in their first steps toward autonomy. She started as an intern in a Montessori 0-3 environment, where she discovered this pedagogy day after day, between concrete gestures and a fine understanding of child development. It was a revelation.

Since then, she has trained, deepened, and today she is proud to be a certified Montessori assistant. What she loves most: offering children a soft, respectful and adapted framework where they can grow at their own pace, with joy and confidence.

School Life

Mame Diarra Gniang

Samba

School Guardian

Samba

From day one, Samba watches over Les Colibris. Guardian of our school, he is the one who opens the door every morning, welcomes families with a smile, and accompanies children safely until they leave.

Samba is much more than a guardian: he is a landmark for both children and adults, a playmate, a reassuring and caring presence who makes the heart of our school beat each day.
